Place Betting Guide
If you've never placed a bet in the place market on the betting exchanges all you need to know is on this very page.
So what is the difference between each-way betting and place betting?
The main difference is that when you bet each way you will usually only just get your money back when the horse comes 2nd or 3rd. If your horse wins you get a great return but more often than not your horse will not win! In the place market you can often get better odds and regardless of whether your horse comes 1st, 2nd or 3rd you'll get the same return. It's exciting and our aim is always to get 2 horses in the places to make us a profit. |
Using Our Tips to Your Advantage.
Not everyone that follows our tips uses them in the same way. Some back them all to win, some may follow our advice and only bet them in the place market over odds of 1.75.
Here are a few ways our members use our information.
1. Back them all to place regardless of the odds.
2. Back them all to place over odds of 1.75 (We recommend this ourselves)
3. Use the tips to narrow the market. We pick the winner around 25% of the time!
3. Back them all to win, otherwise known as dutching. You'll get better odds but won't win as often.
4. Pick just one of the tips each race to win. We do get winners quite often you know!

About Our FREE Place Betting Tips.
Each Day we scan the race cards using a number of different criteria and select the horses we think are likely to get a place in each race. These tip are then fed to the site and our software using our whizzy computers
so you can bet on them.

It's All About The Odds! <1.75 is a no no!
We have researched long and hard and found that there is little point in backing our selections if the odds are under 1.75. To make it worth while we DO NOT recommend backing any horses below 1.75 as you won't get a great return and there is simply too much risk involved.
As we are usually backing 2 or 3 selections in each race if only one comes in and it is at odds around 1.40 for example we're going to make a loss on the race. If two come in and they are both under 1.50 we'll still make a loss if 3 horses are backed. The return just won't cover the other bets placed so we recommend our bets at 1.75 or higher. At least at odds of 1.75 you are getting near to covering any potential losses and if the odds are good enough (2.00 or more) or 2 place in the race you're quids in. If you bet on 3 to place and 2 come in you're in the money!

Picking The Winners.
In around 25% of the races we bet on, one of our selections goes on to actually win their race. Although we recommend backing these to get a place we're often picking the winner of the race as one of our selections too.
We've had winners with odds up to 50/1 but they are obviously not all that common. Normally we'll get winners around 3/1 - 7/1 so if you don't fancy a bet on the place market why not back 1 or more of our tips to win.
